Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

Equipment

  • 1 Dipping plate

Method

  1. Add the crushed red pepper, sea salt, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, dried rosemary, dried basil, and onion powder to a small serving bowl.
  2. Pour in the extra virgin olive oil and stir to combine.
  3. Add the balsamic vinegar.
  4. Let the dipping oil rest for 10–15 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to mingle.
  5. Serve with warm, crusty Italian bread. Stir just before dipping because the oil and vinegar will naturally separate.

Notes

Adjust the amount of crushed red pepper to make the dipping oil more or less spicy. For a stronger balsamic flavor, add another tablespoon of balsamic vinegar. Serve with homemade Italian bread, focaccia, sourdough, baguette, or another crusty bread.
